TAC is set in a beautiful rural setting in a building created for training in.
Why is this so important?
We believe that the environment plays an intrinsic part of learning as a psychotherapist and as a human. We find the relationship and attachment to place is the ground of the relationships to Self and Others. This rootedness creates a safe and trusting environment. As this trust develops academic learning is taken in, not just by the head, but also through the body and heart. Within a world where we are necessarily accounting and accepting difference, we believe it is also vital that we learn to live together in relationship to the planet. Taking in this fundamental environment that we all share is we believe at the heart of how we answer personal, cultural and environmental healing.
Mindfulness has become a practice of the individual, we believe that we need to practice awareness of our world as well as our Self.
For this reason an awareness of nature and the environment plays an important part in the culture of TAC.
Nature will make herself felt in different ways all through the year. Trainees and tutors are encouraged to use the environment as a tool for their personal awareness and are able to take beautiful walks from the doorstep into the virgin oak woods, sea and mountains.
As psychotherapists we perceive our clients with the whole of us. We believe that training needs to reflect this process to be valid.
Even as combine online training with socially distanced training, we keep this connection to our physical environment through experiential exercises created to work through the body in the space we find ourselves in.
The feedback we have received from trainees affirms that our training is still contactual, inspiring and meaningful.
