At TAC we see psychotherapy as an exciting personal and professional journey.
We offer a core training in psychotherapy leading to a qualification as a
Certified Transactional Analyst.
The aim of TAC is to provide a warm, inviting and experiential training with its roots firmly rooted in the theories of Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. We offer a humanistic based training, an approach which integrates the different schools of TA and places them in the context of other modalities of psychotherapy training. The natural environment is close at hand and is an important part of our meaning making. Our training style is to teach through experience, practice and from within the dynamics of the group. This invites a Co-creative and Relational perspective. This means we ask trainees to reflect on their relational experience with their colleagues and trainers as part of their learning.
All training offered is both theoretically informed, practice based and linked to the clinical work of the student. The more you put in, the more you will get out!
Passion, a willingness to be aware of your vulnerabilities and to connect to others are attributes that we value highly. We also want you to develop your unique gifts as an individual which will become the core of your identity as a Transactional Analyst.
We are a small training centre which means there is more time for each person to get individual attention.
This also allows a depth of relationship to emerge in the group process. This is fundamental as psychotherapy is at its core a relational process.
Both your sense of safety with the training and with the group is important to us, so we limit numbers in training.
External trainers are also invited to visit to broaden and diversify the training. We welcome trainees from across Great Britain, local accommodation is available.
Who we belong professionally
Because this is an internationally recognised training, we are a complex organisation made of a few different bodies that over see your training in different ways. UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysis) is part of HIPC (Humanistic and Integrative College) of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy). UKCP monitors training standards of all UKATA Registered Training Establishments. UKATA works with EATA (European Association for Transactional Analysis) to organise the exams and maintain the standard of training from the world-wide perspective.
